Welcome to Wrexham and Prince William Have a Surprising Connection

Welcome to Wrexham There is a major connection to this Prince William – And it’s not just because Wales is involved.

“Prince William is in Wrexham today because it’s St. David’s Day, which is obviously Welsh, kind of a national holiday,” said Wrexham A.F.C. executive director Humphrey Kerr said on the Thursday, May 30, episode of the FX series. “Only we don’t get a day off on St. David’s Day, which is kind of lame.”

St David’s Day is celebrated on 1 March, and 41-year-old William met Wrexham AFC Co-Chairmen Rob McElhenney at the Turf Pub.

“As the Prince of Wales, Prince William will get to come and meet people, kiss babies and do all the things that princes do,” Kerr added. “For us, it’s wonderful that Wrexham Football Club and Wrexham has become a place that the royal family includes on their itinerary when they come to Wales.”

Elsewhere in the scene it was revealed that Kerr and William actually grew up together, having both attended Ludgrove School and Eton College. The Prince of Wales said it had been “a while” since he had seen them hold hands.

“I went to school with Prince William. I’ve known him since I was 7 years old, or something like that,” Kerr said in her statement. “We were in the same bedroom from 7 to 10.”

Williams sat down with McEleny and Kerr and praised their work with Wrexham AFC.

“Has this journey been as exciting as it looks from the outside?” William asked McElhenney, 47. “What you guys are doing is awesome, it’s really awesome.”

The team has “done much more than we could have imagined,” It’s always sunny in Philadelphia the star told the Prince of Wales.

“You give a lot of football fans, whose team maybe isn’t in the glory days that they want or used to be, hope and optimism that one day you can come back,” Williams said. He and McElhenny poured beers from the tap and had shots together at the bar.

William isn’t the first member of the royal family to visit Wrexham. Welcome to Wrexham Season 2 Premiere McElhaney and her co-chairs in September 2023 Ryan Reynolds as soon as they went “Monarchy Boot Camp” before meeting King Charles III,

Reynolds joked at the time, “It was like the army, except your little finger is always up.”
