Costas says Reese’s energy was nowhere to be seen earlier this season … when Connecticut Sun players Alyssa Thomas grabbed him by the neck and pulled him across the court, resulting in a Flagrant 2 foul and he was ejected.
“The reason it’s not being talked about as much is not just because Caitlin Clark is a bigger star than Alyssa Thomas,” Costas said on CNN on Monday. “It’s because it’s a Black on Black event and you don’t have that dynamic that people can comment on, yes, but sometimes there are exaggerations and whole stories are made up.”

Costas said he’s seen the way Clark has been treated in other sports over the years — new players are always harassed for being new, but people are upset because the former Iowa Hawkeyes superstar is white.
