Get some popcorn ready for an extra-long Xbox Games June Showcase

According to industry insider Jeff Grubb, speaking on the Kinda Funny Gamescast, the June 9 Xbox Games Showcase could be up to two hours long and include over thirty games, many of which are completely unannounced new projects.

This is exciting news, as fans have undoubtedly been disappointed. Faded Summer Game Fest and Geoff Keighley’s suggestion that people lower their expectations for new announcements and information about triple-A games.

The Xbox Games Showcase will take place on Sunday, June 9 at 10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern / 6pm UK time. Alongside the Xbox show, a dedicated showcase of a brand new game in the Call of Duty Black Ops franchise is also planned.

Given that Microsoft now owns Activision Blizzard and Bethesda, there are plenty of sources to fill the two-hour showcase with game news that will keep us excited for months to come. An official Xbox podcast episode is also planned for June 10, which will go into detail about announcements from the showcase.

We might even see something totally new — a portable Xbox

Rumors about a portable Xbox system have cropped up here and there for a number of years, especially since the massive success of the Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck.

Reliable leaker eXtas1s (who also accurately leaked the Hellblade 2 launch date, among other things) shared a Recent YouTube video. (in Spanish) that the upcoming Xbox Showcase is where Xbox will officially announce the portable Xbox console.

The manufacturer doesn’t know exactly what the announcement will be like. It could be a trailer, a demo or even a release window – but he’s sure that the audience will be given information about the device after the June 9 showcase.

He also revealed that the number of new first-party games to be announced could reach as high as 10-12, making it one of the most exciting showcases in history.
