“I just want to reach out to you and let you know that after this long year and a half of work Horizon and doing all the things that are necessary, and thinking YellowstoneA beloved series that I love and I know you love too,” Costner said in a video shared via Axe on Thursday, June 20.
He added, “I just realized that I won’t be able to move on to Season 5B or the future. That was something that really changed me. I loved it. And I know you loved it. I just wanted to let you know that I won’t be coming back. I love the relationship that we’ve been able to develop, and I’ll see you at the movies.”

Kostner has officially confirmed his resignation. Yellowstone just hours after Paramount Network’s departure announced that the final episode will premiere on Sunday, November 10 at 8 pm ET after a long delay. The first part of Season 5 concludes in January 2023.
Costner’s involvement in the second half of Season 5 has been unclear, but he was not mentioned in Paramount’s announcement on Thursday.
Costner Previously denied His exit from Yellowstone was the result of a feud with the show producer taylor sheridan or his busy schedule with a four-part Horizon Saga, the first part of which will hit theatres on June 28.
“I’ve taken a lot of beatings from those people, and I know where it’s all coming from,” he told Deadline last month about the rumors. “I just decided not to get involved. But if you know me well, I made Yellowstone my number one priority, and to say anything other than that would be wrong. I didn’t start any of these things. They did.”
Costner added, “I left exactly when they wanted, and that made it difficult for me. It turned out they didn’t have a script for 5B. They needed four more days to finish the first eight episodes. I left early to give them the time they needed to finish the eight episodes, and I felt bad that the audience didn’t get 10 episodes.”
Despite the behind-the-scenes drama, Costner He said he is ready to return for the role of John Dutton.
