Manipal buys 87% in Kolkata hospital chain for Rs 1,400 crore – ET HealthWorld

Bengaluru: Manipal Hospitalsecond largest health care provider has signed an agreement to acquire 87% stake in Medica SynergyA hospital Series based in Kolkata. Although financial details of the transaction were not disclosed, sources told TOI that the deal is estimated to be worth Rs 1,400 crore.

Following acquisition Medica’s Manipal Hospitals will serve 7 million patients annually across 37 hospitals in 19 cities. With the addition of Medica, the number of hospital beds has increased from 9,500 to over 10,500. Two recent acquisitions – Medica Synergy and AMRI – have established Manipal Hospitals as the largest hospital chain in Eastern India, focusing on tertiary and quaternary healthcare.

In a recent development, Manipal Hospitals has acquired 84% stake in Kolkata-based AMRI (Advanced Medical Research Institute) Hospitals for Rs 2,400 crore. Dilip Jose, MD and CEO, Manipal Hospitals, said, “With this acquisition, Manipal Hospitals builds its strong presence in Eastern India, allowing us to expand our reach and address the healthcare needs of this underserved region. can do.”
