Rewards Totaling Up to $8 Million for Information Leading to Arrests and/or Convictions or Financial Disruptions of Clan del Golfo Leaders Involved in Human Smuggling – United States Department of State

In coordination with today’s Department of Justice Anti-Trafficking Rewards (ASR) initiative, Secretary Blinken approved three award proposals under it. State Department’s Transnational Organized Crime Rewards Program (TOCRP) Key leaders of the Clan del Golfo (CDG) involved in human trafficking in the Darien region between Colombia and Panama were targeted. The three bounty offers are as follows:

1) A reward of up to $2 million for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of any key CDG leaders involved in human trafficking in Darien;

2) a reward of up to $1 million for information leading to the disruption of CDG’s financial mechanisms for funding, sustaining, or supporting human trafficking operations in Darien; and

3) A fine of up to $5 million for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of any key CDG leader involved in human trafficking in Darien that encourages and induces foreigners to enter the United States resulting in death, in violation of Title 8, U.S. Code, sections 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv) and 1324(a)(1)(B)(iv).

Today’s three reward offers support law enforcement efforts in Colombia, Panama and the United States to prevent exploitative behavior against migrants from around the world who seek to pass through the Darien area.
